Speak to those dry Bones

Here we are at the last weekend in the sixth month of 2013. Were there some resolutions that you had at the start of the year? Well you better get going before you know it 2014 will be here.  If you have young children, before you blink they will have grown up and off to college, so hang in there and do the best you can while enjoying every moment of it.

  I hope by now you are convinced that you are full of God's power and greatness. and as such you are able to confront the impossible situations in your life.  Victory has already been given to us, we only need to know how to appropriate it.  Ezekiel faced a valley of dry bones- (impossible situation) when God asked him the question can these bones live? It was not that God did not know the answer but He was challenging Ezekiel's faith.  God then told Ezekiel to prophesy to the dry bones, again God was confirming the fact that the words from our mouth are powerful. (Ezekiel 37:1-14).

Like He did to Ezekiel God is challenging us about some dry areas in our lives that we have given up on because life seems impossible. Think about what these areas are and speak to God about them and listen carefully to what He tells you to do. Exercise your Faith and speak to these situations and tell them exactly what God tells you to say, then watch the life return to them.  Remember that it is not about you, but more about who is within you.  It is not about knowing what He says but more about obeying what He says.

You are God's Masterpiece

I hope you had a great week and looking forward to a wonderful weekend and overall a fantastic summer.  Most of us will probably be spending our weekends gardening, barbequing, attending barbeques or trying to stay cool at the park or at the beach.  After all you are allowed to have some R&R I won’t hold it against you, and I doubt your children or significant other will do so either.

 

At the beginning of the year God gave me a theme for the year, “Harnessing the greatness within.”  This greatness was not only to be harnessed in your children, but within you as well.  It would be near impossible for you to work with something in someone else if you can’t do so for yourself.  

There is so much more to you than you see in the mirror.  You are truly God’s masterpiece.  Here are 4 beautiful verses of scripture that confirms this fact that I would love for you to meditate on this week.

“You made all the delicate, inner parts of my body and knit me together in my mother’s womb. Thank you for making me so wonderfully complex! Your workmanship is marvelous – how well I know it. You watched me as I was being formed in utter seclusion, as I was woven together in the dark of the womb. You saw me before I was born. Every day of my life was recorded in your book. Every moment was laid out before a single day had passed.” (Psalm 139:13-16, NLT)

Consistency in Praying is Key

Last week I mentioned a heat wave and today I am seeing torrential rains with possibility of flood in low lying areas.  Ok Lord I am not complaining, just sharing.  So next week let me guess, sunshine?

It is that time again to encourage you about praying for your children.  I may sound like a broken record, but that is the focus of MPUSH.  Not only is consistency a key factor in our praying but it is good to pray offensively, and not always praying on the defensive.  Satan never takes a break, neither should you.  The minute you sit back to relax, that is the moment he sneaks in to create havoc.  Remember that you can bring every concern, dream, and desire about your child to God in fervent, persistent prayer.

 For today let us pray that our children will not wander away from the protective hedge that God has placed around them.  Pray that Satan will not reach them to lead them into temptation and that they will be kept safe from harm- 2 Thessalonians 3:3; and

 Psalm 33:20-

If you have older children pray that they will not be unequally yoked in intimate relationships, especially marriage see what the scripture says in 2 Corinthians 6: 14 .

His Providential care

I am not sure what the weather is like where you are, but there is a heat wave where I am and it is still Spring. If you are experiencing similar weather, please stay cool, and drink plenty of water, this ensures you stay hydrated. Younger children and the elder are more prone to dehydration so pay special attention to them and please do not forget your pets.

 Whenever I think of the heat I also think of water, shelter and coolness and the scripture that comes to mind is Psalm 23:2-3. 

  It is such reassurance to know that Jesus makes us lie down in green pastures. If it was a choice most of us would choose to wander off on our own and in the end starve instead of taking advantage of His provision. The fact that He leads us beside still waters reminds me that I need to remain calm and cool by these waters and enjoy being refreshed.

 Understanding that He does restore my soul makes me want to run to Him on a regular basis so that He can take care of all the nicks and cracks that my soul may sometimes suffer and get that strength that I need.  If I continue to follow Him down the path of righteousness I can be assured that He will help me avoid those potholes along the way, because He is familiar with the path. 

I hope you will take some time this weekend to share this great Psalm with your children as a reminder of God's providential care.

Building Your Memorial

I hope you had a good week in spite of all the various disasters that have been in the news-floods, tornados, and collapse of a bridge. Let us remember to pray for the various families that have been impacted by all these tragedies.

 

 Most of us I am sure are looking forward to this Memorial Day weekend. On Monday we will remember all those who have died in service for our Nation. 

 Have you ever thought about building your own memorial ?  Throughout the bible we see where various people built memorials (altars) to the Lord like Abraham, Moses, Joshua, Aaron, and Gideon.  We also see where the Lord took special note of what some people were doing and recognized it as a memorial. Take a look at this conversation with Cornelius and the Lord in Acts 10:44

 Mary Magdalene by anointing Jesus' feet had built a memorial to the Lord. In describing Mary after this event,  we find that this incident was what was used for others to know exactly who she was.  John11:2

 These were all ordinary people who had no fanfare, but because what they did was from their heart, God took notice of them. What can you do in your quiet way, and from your heart, without fanfare that God will take note of.

Praying His promises

As I have mentioned on numerous occasions, the bible contains many promises for our children.  I encourage you to familiarize yourself with what they are and use them to guide the way you pray for your children. Regardless of how young or how old your children are you can personalize these promises by inserting their names in these verses and pray believing that God will honor His word.

Let us try this with Ephesians 1:17-19- That the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give unto you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of him: The eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that ye may know what is the hope of his calling, and what the riches of the glory of his inheritance in the saints, And what [is] the exceeding greatness of his power to us-ward who believe, according to the working of his mighty power.

 

Let this be your prayer over the next week.  As you pray this prayer, just think that your mother may be also praying this same prayer for you as well.

More Than a Mother

Mother’s day is fast approaching so let be among the first to wish you a happy Mother’s day.  I do hope that you will be pampered for the day, or probably you will be pampering your mother.  In case your children are not grown enough to fix you breakfast, they may be able to bring you your slippers or a glass of water.  If dad is around hopefully he will pick up the slack.

MPUSH ministry will be celebrating mother’s day early as tomorrow will be our 2^nd annual MPUSH mother/child breakfast event which promises to be both exciting and empowering.  I am expecting that God will be blessing in a mighty way.

Did you realize that every day is mother’s day for God?  Yes He treats us with very special care every minute of every day   Not that any person or thing can be compared to God, but we can say that all the qualities that we are looking for in a mother we can find in God and much more.  We see mothers as nurtures, givers, protectors, and comforters. Mothers for most part can be described as loving and caring.  God embodies all these qualities and more.  He nurtures us in His bosom especially when we are young in Him.  God comforts us when we need to be comforted and will even wipe the tears from our eyes, and cleans our wounds when we fall and scrapes our knees.  He is a giver; He blesses us spiritually, physically and financially and He showers us with unconditional love. 

For those who are planning not to enjoy mother’s day because you may have lost your own mother or have lost a child, as you reflect on what you are missing, think about what you have and give God thanks.
